Thursday night, when it was still warm, I borrowed the measuring wheel from work and tramped all over my yard, measuring stuff. Used Excel and turned information I gathered into a scale drawing of my house and yard.
Part of my weekend indoor projects is to figure out where I want a hedge and then, using the seed catalogs, figure out how much it will cost if I buy bare-root seedlings. No way could I do what I did at St. Clair and buy 2 foot-high bushes as my yard is WAY too huge - For example, from the ditch in front to the cement wall at the back is 281 feet (almost as long as a football field!)
I can also use the drawings to lay out potential gardens, etc. So, it's a good thing!
