...workday?
Started out the day making scrambled eggs with chives and bacon. I will need the fuel, as it will be a workday around here. Then off to run errands. Went and got Gerbera daisies at Meijer and two bags of top soil (all out of mulch), bird seed and suet cakes at Home Depot. My friend Cathy from Canada sent me pictures of her Gerbera daisies and I liked them so much, I decided to put some in where the big hosta is (next to the clematis) and transplant the hosta (divided into four) in the back.
Got home and started transplanting. Almost broke my shovel handle digging out the old hosta. Planted the daisies (see photos) then took the hosta in the back. Used my newspaper and dirt trick again to compensate for settling. Then took two wheelbarrow loads of mulch and finished it up.
Then I finished trimming all the bushes in front.
When we were working on the swing set last week, I noticed how springy the boards on top were and told Jake I should put in two more joists. When I went to measure for them, I found they were already there, just the top boards were never attached. So, I dragged out the extension cords and my drill and put a 3 inch deck screw in every board. Now its nice and firm.
Since I had power cords out, I got the blower and blew off the patio, under the picnic table and under the sailboat.
Back inside, I undertook the worse job of the day: cleaning off the drip pans on the stove. This took Softscrub, brillo pads and an enormous amount of elbow grease!
Now it was around 5:00 PM, so I watched the end of the Nascar race while the coals in the grill heated up. Jake missed the sweetcorn I had soaking in water yesterday, so I made that, along with hot dogs. I served them New York style, with minced onions and sauerkraut. Excellent!
I cleaned up all the mess, cleaned myself up and watched TV for the rest of the night.
