Monday

Still raining Monday night. This put a rubber stamp on what my aching shoulder has been telling me all day: No heavy-duty projects tonight!

I did go out during a drizzle period and planted the arborvitae. I was concerned a bit that the ground would be saturated but it was only wet a few inches down. It looks funny, being about two feet shorter than the ones I planted when I first moved here. Would have taken a picture, but, hey, its raining!

Also, put on new chains for my four hanging pots in front. Noticed when I moved them to paint that the original chains were rusty, so I picked up some new ones last Saturday.

I was getting quite a collection of Italian (plum) tomatoes, so I sliced them up, arranged them on a platter, drizzled them with olive oil, then added salt, pepper, fresh chopped basil and crumbled blue cheese. Excellent snack!

For dinner, I took about a quarter of the smoked pork loin, shredded it with two forks, added barbecue sauce and slowly warmed it up to make pulled pork sandwiches. I put them on onion Kaiser rolls, with some chips and some pepperocini. Excellent dinner, too.

Couldn't sleep, so I sat on the front porch around 11:00 PM and watched it rain for a while. Checked the rain gauge this morning, and this weekend's weather gave me just over 1 1/2 inches of rain (we are still an inch less than the normal August amounts, though).
