Well, Tuesday was a bit frustrating! After all the messing around with the main toilet, I noticed it was leaking. Not inside the toilet, mind you, but the shut off valve itself. The valve's probably been there since the house was built (it still had a copper line from it to the toilet) so I bought a replacement one and a new water line at lunch.
When I got home, first thing I did was water all the container plants. Then I filled two buckets full of water (just in case things went horribly wrong and I had to leave the water shut off at the main). Dug out my plumbing tools and went to work...
Damn! Even though I'd measured the pipe, I bought the wrong size replacement shut off! Too late to go all the way back to the hardware store tonight, so put the old shut off back on (turned off) and that toilet was out of commission the rest of the night.
