Do you happen to be French? My Dad made galettes, but just plain ones, with no potato at all. He deep fried them and we put jelly/jam on them or cinnamon or confectioners sugar, maybe plain sugar. I've never heard anyone else speak the word galettes and my dad passed away way back in 1976. Now, my brother and I take turns making them. Thanks for the memory!

ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm not French, I'm German. I had never heard of galettes before, just saw them in a recipe book and they looked good.
It's nice you and your brother still make them. My father died in 1975, so I know traditions are one way to help keep memories alive.
