Top o' the morning to you! Slept in this morning (I was up half the night) so decided to forego breakfast. Got out the slow cooker and assembled my dinner. I used unpeeled baby redskin potatoes, two onion (halved) and cut the cabbage into four wedges (but only could fit 3 wedges in the pot), trimmed the fat off the corned beef, rubbed in the spice packet and added cup of beef broth. Put the lid on and turned it on and dinner is cooking!
I had a Guiness draught and remembered to toast Maureen Alice Fagan, my old therapist, who I am sure is fully engaged in celebrating St. Patrick's day. She explained it to me this way: first, they go to Mass, and then they go to their favorite Irish pub and claim a big table. Then couples come and go, to other pubs and restaurants to drink and eat and visit, but somebody always holds the table, so they can return whenever they want. And that's how they celebrate the day in the Detroit Irish community.
Back to the duck. Wings are now glued on, so taking it to the garage, the big vise and the big belt sander. As they say in "Pulp Fiction" I am about to get medieval on it's *ss!
I got the rough sanding all done, then I came back in and am using the Dremel tool with a sanding drum. The steel cutting bits I have were taking too much time. However, sawdust is a real problem. I first gagged a few times, then threw up in the laundry tub. Looked for the paper masks I used to have, but couldn't find any. Finally used the mask Jake had when he was working in Prep, sanding plastic parts at Spacely Sprockets (sorry, Jake, but I needed something!) I quit when the timer went off for the corned beef (about 5:00 PM).
I stripped naked where I stood (to minimize the sawdust in the house) and went to the bedroom for another work shorts and tee shirt. Then I went to the kitchen and had a great meal, washed down with more Guiness.
After dinner, I took a nice nap. Then I settled in to watch a three hour boxing show. I did doze off near the end, but I was taping it, so I won't miss anything.
