Red Wings vs. Calgary Flames - 5th game

Okay, so the good news is that the Red Wings won this game 5 to 1 and we lead the series 3 to 2. However, even though I only saw the last 7 minutes, I was dismayed at the violence (I know, I know, hockey is a very physical game - tennis it ain't! But some of it seemed really unnecessary.) Since I just saw the end (and the Red Wings seemed over-the-top aggressive), I checked the stats. See below:

  2. I totally agree with you. I too was dismayed at what I thought was unnecessary violence in this 3rd period. Being a "sunshine and puppies" person myself, I do realize that this is a physical sport and the penalties will happen however...our backup goalie was in for 18 seconds, I repeat...18 seconds and he snaps and gets 3 penalties and then to top it off, our team captain gets two...c'mon guys you are supposed to be professionals here...give your heads a shake! In my eyes, unexcusable - it is not a day where I am proud to be a Flames fan...

  3. Thanks, Oh Canada! I was ticked at the Red Wings, myself, but it's nice to know somebody noticed the Flames seemed a bit over the top as well...
