Friday Night Adventures

Raced home after work, only making one quick stop: Murray's Auto store, for wheel bearing grease (I think I will need it for the trailer). Changed clothes in a flash and was out to the garage. Turned on the lights and the classic rock station on the radio and got to work. My goal is to have everything but the trailer lights finished tonight.

Worked along getting the casters (used when the trailer is folded up in half) on, the fenders, the leaf springs and then was about to install the axle when it all came to a screaming halt at 7:30 PM! The axle is held on by four U-Bolts. The U-Bolts are held in place by 8 lock washers and the (almost) universal lock nut. BUT... no lock washers! Went through everything, but, no, no lock washers... Hmmm... what to do? If it was, say, the fender, I might forget about them. But it seems pretty important to me that the axle remain secured to the trailer, right?

Went through all my fastener drawers. Found two lock washers that would work, but two is not eight. Decided to err on the side of caution and pick some up tomorrow. So, this evening's blitz build is officially over... (damn it!)

When I first got home I had put the zip-lock bag with the remaining 6 frozen chicken legs in a bowl of cold water to thaw. I also thawed out a container of my bean soup, (either for a late night snack or my main meal if this experiment goes horribly wrong, lol!). And, when I came in one of many times from trailer building to pee, I put some redskin potatoes on to boil, which they did. So, now I am going to attempt to recreate Acenter's (Carla's Mom) Southern fried chicken with a side of homemade potato salad for my Friday night dinner.

So, with the trailer build on hold, I went to making dinner. This being impromptu, I didn't have any green pepper (which I like) for the potato salad. But what I did put in was redskin potatoes (with skins on), a chopped valadia onion, diced celery, and two cut up hard boiled eggs, all topped with a dressing of Miracle Whip, yellow mustard, milk, salt, pepper and a splash of vinegar.

The chicken I made the same way as Carla's Mom (even the stove setting) but I must confess: It was good, but not as good as hers. The skin wasn't as crunchy. I think if I had the oil a little hotter, it would have worked. Oh well, next time.

Now it's really late (almost 10:00 PM) and my arm is killing me from working on the trailer. Skipped TV AND reading and went to sleep.
