I need a Japanese gardener!

Come on, wouldn't that be great? The two of us could bounce around ideas for each garden, then he would go and plant them and take care of them. I, as the Lord of the manor, would just have to enjoy them...

Weather was beautiful Tuesday, sunny and almost 80 degrees F. I decided the trailer was gonna have to wait, so I could plant the remaining 2 flats of flowers (pansies and Impatiens).

I raced home, changed clothes and headed outside. First task was to reseed the garage side lawn and some in the back (it's supposed to rain in the next few days, which will help keep my water bill down, lol!) I gave the fresh seed on the lawn a good soaking as I dragged the hose up to the front of the house.

Then I worked up the front garden, pulling out the few weeds that had trespassed there. I added a generous helping of slow-release fertilizer and raked it smooth. Next, I started planting. Pansies (which I learned last year die in the heat) in the front for color and Impatiens (a deep red) in the rear.

Bending over to plant the back and kneeling to plant the front (I know, I know, but it was quicker that way) really took its toll on my back and knee. I got the whole front done, but checked the time (8:15) and gave up before planting the last corner (see photos).

Came in and got cleaned up. I reheated the half slab of baby back ribs and the two remaining ears of corn for dinner. Ate two pain pills for dessert and read my book until I fell asleep.

  1. When you find your gardener, please loan him to me!!!! What a great idea.

p.s. Perhaps you need diversity training!
