Thursday night, working outside for a change

I got home and got to work, after stopping at (where else) Home depot for some things. First thing I did was to plant my two new Caladiums in Jake's patio garden. I forget now how many coleus I originally planted (enough to fill the bed in other years), but most of them died off (see Photos). This weather is killing me!

I weedwacked the patio, Jake's patio, and then the driveway. I followed that up by using the blower on both patios and the driveway, especially in the driveway. I think it's all the sawdust I've been making and then just blowing out of the garage that's encouraged the weed/grass/moss growth.

I had to buy a new sprayer (the old one cracked at the rim) so I had picked up a 2-gallon Ortho sprayer. Why? Because it came with three different tips, one of which was a foam tip, so I don't have to worry so much about the wind blowing the herbicide onto the lawn. I sprayed the patio first, then Jake's patio then finally the driveway. I am trying not to bend over too much (that's how I always hurt my back). I am just trusting the foam tip.

Oh, the rose photos. I must tell you B___'s folksy saying for bare root roses: "First year they sleep, second year they creep, third year they leap." Meaning it takes three years to get a good bloom on bare root roses. That's okay, I can wait... But check out the little flowers I got this year in Photos.

Finished spraying the driveway at 8:30 PM. I went in and washed up (remembering to rinse off the bottoms of my Crocs so I didn't inadvertently track herbicide over the lawn later). I warmed up a burger and the last two ears of sweet corn for dinner and read until bedtime.
