On my way home, I stopped at Home Depot to get some stuff and a 1" x 4" board. I've decided I don't like the look of the door molding at the floor. So, I am going to use the board to make some blocks that the molding will sit on (I know, I know, I'm beginning to obsess with all this, but I do want it to look GREAT!)
Got home and started to prep the area over the sink and the ceiling around the attic door (see photo). BTW, I got an inspiration for that attic door. It has a cheesy white plastic ball on a rope to pull it down. But, when I was looking for new kitchen curtains, I saw some tie-backs that I think if I cut one of the tassels off, it would look really old-fashioned (like an old bell pull) and still let me pull down the door.
It amazes me how long it takes to prep a paint area versus how short it takes to paint it. But, when I pulled off the tape, I ran into some problems. The wall paint came off with the tape! Now the wall looks like when you get sunburn and it starts to peal!! Help!!!
My Mom called at 7:30 PM to tell me she's heading out to Lake Orion next Wednesday to stay for the summer. I hope you have a great time, Mom!
Quit at 8:30 PM to go out and water (still really hot - day after day of high 80's and no rain). I talked with my neighbor who told me the bad news. They passed the variance on the property next door. The Township's reasoning? "It will make a good transition from the 'Commercial' zone (on Plymouth) to the 'Residential' zone (my house)." So, I have both the construction and then twenty apartments next to me to look forward to! If I didn't love this place so much, I think I'd sell!!!
Finished watering in the dark (after 10:00 PM) went in and stuck leftover corn and a steak in the microwave. Stupidly, I lay on the bed and checked the TV waiting for it to warm up. Yes, you guessed it. I woke up at 3:30 AM and ate my dinner...
All in all, not such a good day...
