Well, it finally rained, and what a rain! It started about 3:45 PM and lasted maybe until 4:15 PM.. Lightning, thunder, sideways rain and heavy winds. I was thrilled until I got home and checked the rain gauge - less than 1/4 inch! I was glad for the rain, but it's not nearly enough!
However, the rain did cause me a problem. Jake had an antique HP server in a cabinet which had little tiny wheels and weighed maybe 80 pounds, that was in the closet he and Carla will need (I took a picture, but didn't post it yet). We discussed disposing of it and he agreed. But when I called Redford Township, they said they will not take computers except on "Hazardous Waste Day" (next is September 15 and you have to bring it to them). So, I asked the used computer store at the corner what they would charge to get rid of it. They said since I was their next-door neighbor, it was free.
But the little wheels stuck in the rain-softened driveway! Ended up putting it on the furniture dolly (6 inch wheels) and tugged, lifted and pushed it out to the road. Once on the road, it rolled fine, but getting it there was a b*tch!
With that out of the way, I changed my clothes and got to work. I measured and installed the shelf brackets (making sure they would be level was a chore), then I screwed on the shelves themselves. Important Tip! You probably all know this, but if you don't, when screwing in wood screws, it really helps to dip them in dish detergent first. They go in much easier that way!
Once the shelves were on, I took down the fluorescent light I had hanging from the ceiling over the pipe-making bench and fastened it to the lower shelf. Then I painted the top of each shelf.
Now, here's where I changed course. In thinking about tonight's endeavors during the day, I thought that, while the first coat was drying, I'd put up the mini-blind, paint the shelves again, install the shower head, do the final coat of paint, and then stop.
But, its 7:40 PM already, I'm beat (hauling that server really took the stuffing out of me) and I'm hungry. So, I tossed the plan in the trash and quit for the night!
I warmed up the other two catfish filets, the rest of the wild rice and the four slices left of the eggplant for dinner. I watched TV for a bit, but was asleep by 9:30 PM.
