Friday Night

I was pulling in my garage after work when Jake and Carla pulled up behind me. How nice! Its been a while since we had our old Friday night visit.

We chatted a while about work (Jake and mine, and then Carla's). I have to be honest about this, it is a damn good thing there are people like Carla who want to help the marginalized people of this country. I couldn't do it, I know. No way!

We all have some driving to do this weekend. Saturday, I am going to my niece Julie's wedding (church in Detroit, reception in Sterling Height and somehow I have to get the soup out to Mom's). Jake and Carla are picking his friend Jay up from the airport on Saturday (he's flying in for the weekend from Seattle), showing him their house and then taking him up to his parent's house in St. Clair. Then they have to pick him up and take him back to the airport on Sunday. It's a good thing gas prices dropped a bit!

Jake tried some of my split pea soup and declared it good. We finally got Carla just to try it (Now, we all know she hates peas, but I thought that, if they were in a soup, it might make a difference). From the look on her face, it didn't!

She did warm up some of the mac & cheese, but I didn't get her reaction (bathroom break).

Finally, when real hunger set in, we ordered pizza. After eating and cleanup, they left (around 8:30 PM or so). As I waved goodbye from the porch, I took a few minutes to inspect my outside decorations. Not bad, not bad at all. But, its time I got on to decorating inside!

I came in and changed clothes, then watched TV until bedtime.
