Cold today, and supposed to get colder all weekend with high's only in the teens and lows in the single digits, and with winds between 10-20 mph!!! I hate cold like that! Why? Several reasons: My knee aches constantly; things outside seem to always break or snap off unexpectedly; that's when you car won't start, your door locks freeze up, or, worst of all, that's usually when your car's battery decides it's too old and dies. Oh, well, it could be worse, I guess. I could be living in Yellowknife, up in the Northwest Territories of Canada! (I've heard stories and this would be a hot spell, there!)
Work was work, except there was a two hour IT presentation I had to attend. Normally I hate two-hour meetings, but this one was made a bit easier by two things: the three dozen homemade donuts Jake made and brought in (I had a plain one and thought it was great, but he said they were too chewy) and I got to watch Jake do a presentation. He did good, BTW. Kept it high level (which most of the other five presenters did NOT), interesting and, of course, funny. And, bribing the audience with donuts was a nice Goerlich touch, too!
Drove home to "Bang the Drum" (of course), got the mail (nice job, John!) and got inside! I changed clothes and was just reviewing my To Do list (thankfully, rather small this weekend) when the phone rang. It was my daughter, Melissa, who, as usual, was supposed to be cleaning the house for the first visit from her Mom and Jim, but instead decided it was much more important to call me, LOL!
So we talked for a long while about everything and nothing. When we finally hung up, I scrounged the last of the leftovers, warmed them up and went to try and stay awake through the Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" Berlin episode. One lousy hour show, BTW! Third time this week I have tried and third time I fell asleep before the end!! Dammit!!!
And that was the "wild and crazy" Friday Night at la casa en San Jose.
