One Last Saturday Night Post

(thanks to Melissa and Dave and their Christmas present of the 20th anniversary of "Uncle John's Bathroom Reader")

We are all familiar with several of the 18th Century pirate terms such as:

AVAST: Dutch for "Hold Fast" It means, "Stop and pay attention."

or

SHIVER ME TIMBERS: A expression of shock or disbelief. When a wooden ship gets hit by a cannon ball or unexpectedly runs aground, the whole ship shakes or "shivers."

or even

DEAD MEN: Empty liquor bottles - their "spirits" have left them!

But one I never heard of was Dungbie, which means, literally, your butt.

Why? Because that's where "the dung be!"
