Finally Friday!!!

Friday was a long day at work. I was finishing up a policy paper I'd been writing all week and then came the editing. Having worked for a newspaper as a teenager and a technical writer for several years, I am really not comfortable editing my own work. But, that's what I had to do. I got it done and sent it to Jake. He read it first, found several items that we either don't have or don't do and suggested the right people in the department to review it. Thanks!

My friend B___ was otherwise occupied for lunch, so I picked up Jake and we went to my house. He warmed up the potato soup he brought for him and I made a cold roast beef sandwich for me (potato bread and spicy brown mustard, with a pickle and chips, of course).

Finally five o'clock, heading home and banging the drum! I had thawed out some chili I froze when I last made it for tonight's dinner, but I kept thinking about that potato soup (hey, it smelled great!) So, I dug out a pack of frozen bacon (along with a pound of hamburger and a steak for the weekend dinners) and waited for it to thaw. The chili went back into the fridge.

When, at last, the bacon was pliable enough to work with, I made the potato soup recipe in this Blog. Again, I noticed the recipe as posted is not complete (what was I thinking?) I tell you to fry 1/2 pound of bacon until it's crispy, but never tell you to crumble it and sprinkle it on top the bowls of soup, along with some finely-sliced scallions, when you serve it! Sorry, I didn't tell you that, but hopefully you figured it out.

I was eating dinner at 9:30 PM (bacon took a while)! So, I left the mess (well, I did soak things) for the morning. [Note to Self: This is the second time this week you've done that! You're getting lazy, man!] I grabbed the next library book and started reading, until I fell asleep. I woke up at 2:00 AM for a bathroom break and finally shut off the light and officially went to sleep.
