Wednesday's Hot Oil Massage

I came home the long way, down 6 Mile Road to the Redford library, dropped off the books I'd read, picked up five more new ones, plus the one I had on hold. As a result, I didn't get home until 5:45 PM.

I went out and refilled the suet cage and the bird feeder, and straightened up the patio furniture. Yesterday's high winds played havoc with them. I went back inside, and then took a picture of my houseplant and posted to the Blog both the picture and the story. That makes four posts today, so, "Bite me, oh ye who think I'm boring!"

I put on a big pot a water to boil while working on the computer, then added pasta and set the timer for "al dente." When it was done, I rinsed it off in cold water and put the pasta in the fridge to cool. Yep, you guessed it! Tuna Salad tonight!

Now, it's out to the garage and installing the new mower blades. I did check the manual and you're supposed to tighten the nut on the blades to 110 N.m (now, that's tight!) No wonder I had so much trouble getting the damn things off. So, after I tightened them as much as I could by hand, I tapped on the wrench a couple times with a hammer, just to make sure.

In the middle of that, my son Jeremy called. We discussed his upcoming trip to Florida. He's one of the presenters at a week-long IT convention and his daughter Riese will be staying with Lu and Sadie during that time (they are flying in tomorrow).

Then it was back out to the garage. I pulled the mower outside and let it run for 10 minutes to warm up so I could change the oil. Now, this is a problem as the drain plug is directly over the frame of the mower. So, they give you a hose you are supposed to stick in the hole you take the plug out of and direct the oil flow to a catch basin. Sounds simple, right? NOT! You take out the plug and, no matter how fast you are, hot oil shoots straight out. And, if you're clumsy like me and don't get the hose lined up immediately, the hot oil hits your hand and burns you. End result? Oil's drained and there is a little bit in the catch basin, but the majority of it is in a puddle on the garage floor! I put down some kitty litter to try and soak it up overnight.

Disgusted, I went inside and washed up. I put together the tuna salad and got a bowl of it for my dinner. I watched a taped show until Top Chef came on at 10:00 PM. I started watching it, but dozed off around 10:30. I woke up at 1:30 AM to go to the bathroom, so I shut off the TV and lights and really went to bed.
