I think I'm evolving...

I'm guessing there are two ex-wives and several old girl friends who are thinking, "It's about time!" But I'm referring to how I am designing my front flower garden. Ever since I've moved here, I've planted it more or less the same (although I have varied the types of flowers planted). But, this year will be different.

So, in keeping with my new plan I stopped and bought three seed packets of Sweet Alyssium (mixed colors of white, lavender and pink). Again, they are so fine a seed, I mixed them with a bit of potting soil to ease sowing them. I planted them around the rocks and in front of the hostas in swatches next to the areas I put the moss roses in.

So, after I get the Impatiens bought and planted, I will not only have added a hardscape feature (the rocks) but will have patches of flowers in three different heights. Sounded good to me, but we'll have to wait until everything blooms to judge!

After that, I went out back and planted the last four eggplants (I had to crowd them a bit to adjust for Carla's four hot pepper plants I inherited). Then, I planted the one tray of leeks (I took the other two trays into a lady at work who plants a large vegetable garden).

I went with Jake's theory that planting three of them in each spot would be okay. It was the only way to get done before dark, as there are a LOT of leeks in one little tray! I again turned on the sprinkler for 20 minutes to water the new plantings.

Once inside, I made a couple of sandwiches for a quick dinner and went in to take a nap. Why a nap at 8:30? So, I could see Top Chef at 10:00 PM. It almost worked! I woke up at 10:30, but since it was being recorded, I just turned one the DVD-R and watched it. When it was done, I went to bed for real.
