Slow-moving Sunday

I woke up at 8:00 AM, but with yawning, stretching and making manly morning noises, I didn't get out of bed until 8:30. I took a physical inventory and I am a little achy (okay, lot achy) but nothing really "hurts". What aches? Primarily, both knees, my shoulders, the small of my back and all the joints in both hands. None of that bothers me as much as my newest find: the top of my head is burning! Yes, I managed to spend enough time outside in the partial sunshine yesterday to sunburn my bald spot.

So, onto breakfast. I have been ignoring my one hobby, cooking, for my other, gardening and yard work. So, today I took the time to make a classic French tri-fold omelet with Swiss cheese and sauted Crimini mushrooms. I had an onion bagel with it, but just buttered, no cream cheese, and coffee. Very tasty!

Next came a shave and shower, trying to keep the hot water off my sunburn (it seems the back of my neck got toasted, too!) Once dressed, I headed to the grocery store to pick up staples only (I haven't had time to figure out what else I might want or need.

I went back home and unloaded the groceries, then got out my trusty spade. I have two hostas that are getting too big, and Jake mentioned he might have a spot for them. So, I divided the one in front under my bedroom window into three. I left one of the "thirds" and the other two will be moving to Jake and Carla's. It's amazing to me, but this is the very same plant I divided up and made four of five of the big hostas now in the very back garden. I dug out the other, smaller one and added that to the box in my trunk.

I also cut my chives in two. I told Carla she could have that for her herb garden and explained how I'd lugged that same plant from house to house, ever since taking it from my family home on 24 Mile Road during the Goerlich Diaspora.

I have to go to Lowe's for some things and, since it's only about 4 miles from their house, I dropped off the plants and then came home. I was planning on planting my veggies and herbs, but it keeps raining off and on. Also, I'd really like to give my back a rest for a day or two. So, I made sure the plants were still damp and called it good for today.

After some lunch (the last of the tuna salad (thank God! I am sick of tuna salad!) I decided to watch Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

I watched this until it ended at 6:00 PM. Then I started dinner: my old favorite, linguine with clams. I got the pasta into the sauce, and then put the pan into the microwave to keep warm until I was hungry. By then it was time for Extreme makeover, Home Edition (this week in New Orleans). It's the usual tear jerker, but, damn I love this show!

I finally got hungry and got a big plate of the pasta and topped it with some salt (no anchovies, again!) and grated Parmigiano-Reggiano. Excellent as always!

I started dozing about half way through Iron Chef America. It was a rerun anyway, so I turned it off and went to bed.
