Mower Moments

I had to stop on the way home at CVS to pick up a prescription refill and some shaving cream. I am rushing as I need to cut the grass tonight.

Its warm today and the humidity is uncomfortable. But, not as bad as it's supposed to get tomorrow (predicted high of 92 degrees F. or 33 C.) However, I know a good way to make myself feel cooler: I just check the temperature for tomorrow in Virginia (Lu) and North Carolina (Melissa). Forecast there is for 100 degrees F! I use this method in the winter, too. If I feel bad about the weather here, I just check the weather in Minnesota (Amy) and it's usually worse. Or, to feel positively tropical, I just check the winter weather in Alberta, Canada (Canada Cathy)!

Anyway, I quickly change clothes, check the oil and gas in the mower and fire it up. I got everything cut (front, side and back) just before 8:00 PM. Now I only have to do the trimming this weekend. I refill the bird feeder and toss out the last three submarine buns (since they were fresh baked when I bought them, they were turning green). BTW, it looks like the maple seeds are about done now, so I'll have to clean out my gutters again. But, now is the part of the season I hate: The damn cottonwood seeds!

There is a huge cottonwood tree at the rear of the vacant lot next door. My neighbor on the other side used to have one about 50 feet from my patio, but, thankfully, he cut it down. Now, why would someone like me (Mr. Natural) hate a tree? Because, the way they reproduce! The ends of the branches get swollen with seeds and break off (falling in my yard). Then, when the seeds ripen, they turn into these fuzzy things that float all around, covering things like the reflecting pool and clogging the filter for the air conditioner. So, for a while each year, I have sticks constantly littering my yard and stupid, annoying fuzzy things floating about. YUCK! I tried to take a picture, but it was getting too dark. So, I'll take one Friday morning and post it.

Back in the house, I called my Mom. She is all packed and ready to go to Orion, but she doesn't have a firm date when she's moving yet.

I ate the last of the tuna salad while watching TV and went to sleep by 10:00 PM.
