It was an absolutely perfect day Wednesday, with low humidity, temperature about 83 degrees F. and a cool breeze blowing from the Northwest.
But, when I arrived home, I noticed Tuesday's brutal combination of heat and humidity had taken its toll on the flowers. So, after the usual getting home rituals, I changed clothes and started watering the container gardens.
Then I got the hose and dragged it around to the front. I attached the wand and started watering the gardens, trying to really soak them.
The hose and wand got dragged to the back and I used it on the vegetable garden. Then I scouted for things to pick. About that time, my neighbors walked over to the fence and we chatted a while, talking about the election, taxes, home values and so on. Tammy kept spotting ripe tomatoes for me. So, I offered them some, but they declined (they have their own garden).
I dug down into the dirt with my fingers and found all that soaking had only gotten about one inch of soil damp. So I took the tomatoes into the house, went back outside and hooked up the square sprinkler. I turned it on, went back in the house and set the stove timer for 20 minutes. Proud of my crop, I took a photo of the tomatoes to post.
When I shut the sprinkler off, it was 8:10 PM. For dinner I made an open face hot roast beef sandwich. I watched TV until about 10:00 then went to sleep.
