Am I on the level?

Monday and yet another fine day, in a veritable string of perfect days. It started after the heavy rains of Ike and is supposed to last at least through this weekend. Each day has highs in the mid-seventies and lows in the low fifties, no rain and usually sunny.

When I got home, I checked the ToDo list. I had thought (and then confirmed) that there was only one big item I had left undone this weekend: leveling the lawn mower blade. It had cut the grass noticeably uneven this past week.

So, I dug out the manual and read up on the procedure. Hmmm... seems simple enough... So, I changed clothes and went out to the garage. I got my environment ready: garage door open, radio on, socket set down and opened and large adjustable wrench at hand.

It was not hard, but it wasn't all that simple, either. I eventually thought I had it right, so I got the keys and cut a test strip in the side lawn. It looks close. So I tightened everything down and closed up the garage.

Oh, midway through that project, my Mom called. She said she is coming back to New Baltimore this weekend. While the days are still beautiful (as I said), the nights are getting too cold out there, even with the heater and the fireplace.

I warmed up half of my leftovers from Saturday (the Lemon Dill Chicken with Wild Mushrooms over Fettuccini) for dinner. It still tasted good, two days later! I watched TV until 9:30, and then switched to my book for a bit. I went to sleep just after 10:00 PM.
