Bang that Drum!!!

By shear happenstance, I filled up my car's gas tank on Thursday. I had to get gas for the lawn mower and since I was there, why not? Today, I'm glad I did, because gas prices at that very station are ten cents higher a gallon today and supposed to go up even more tomorrow. All due to Hurricane Ike, of course.

When I got home and changed, I started washing the items on the table that have to go back on the kitchen counter (toaster oven, bread box, coffee maker, toaster, etc.) and then putting them back. Now, I know what you're thinking: Why isn't he installing the kitchen sink?

Because, Saturday morning the Redford Water Department is coming over to replace the sending unit for the water meter (so they can read it outside). So, I thought I'd leave it out and make it a little easier on the guy.

I moved the stove back into place (finally!), the table back into place and put all the items that should go under the sink on top the table (still covered with a tablecloth to protect it). I had bought an interesting-looking, thick cutting board a couple of weeks ago, so I put some felt cushions on the bottom. My plan is to leave this setting on the counter next to the stove. That will give me not only a place to cut herbs and such, but also a resting place for hot pans, etc., so I am not screwing up the tile.

Next I installed the switch and plug plate covers. This is starting to look like my kitchen, again! I swept the kitchen floor and then made some dinner: A wedge of iceberg lettuce, topped with Blue cheese dressing and a microwaved chicken pot pie. I put that in the bedroom to cool while I washed the kitchen floor.

I ate dinner watching TV, but started nodding off. So, I turned it off and started reading a magazine that came yesterday. When that too began to make me sleepy, I turned off the light and went to bed.
