Glad you brought that up! I have some in my front garden and the first year I ignored them. This year I removed the shoots when they became woody and also removed the yellow, dried leaves. How do I prepare this thing for winter?
Not sure how Amer does his, but I wait until I clean up the gardens for Fall and do basically what you did (take off anything that isn't green). In the Spring, I clean up everything to let the new leaves grow.
