It's Monday and time to get back to work on the shower. I checked on the heater throughout the night and was surprised that it was still running when I got up. The only thing I could figure was the 11 hours per tank meant at "High" temperature setting and I had the heater set to about "Medium-Low."
I started to seal the grout, using a foam brush and the watery sealant. Following the instructions, I applied it, waited no more than 10 minutes and wiped the excess off of the tiles. Once the grout had dried, I put on a second coat. After that dried for one hour, I washed the tiles with warm water and a sponge.
Lu called Jeremy and asked him the status on the power outage. He said that his company also had no power and the data center was running on generators. Lu and Sadie decided to go shopping so, they left for the Salvation Army store and Westborn market. I asked them to pick me up some leeks.
Once the shower was completely dry, I caulked the four corners, the tops of the tile, the ceiling and bottoms of the curved tiles in the shower pan. Silicon caulk does not handle as nicely as say, latex. So, I gave up on trying to be pretty and worked on being thorough. The most important thing is that the shower is waterproof and no moisture gets behind the tile! I will take a razor knife and trim off the excess caulk later. I finished at exactly at 3:00 PM. Since the caulk must cure for 24 hours, I'll have my first shower tomorrow afternoon.
The first tank of propane ran out just after 4:00 PM. I was just getting my coat on to get it refilled when the ladies got back from their shopping trip. So, they grabbed it and ran it across the street. When they got back, I unloaded it and they unpacked.
Dinner was another round of the bread, soup and salad (I have no idea how to light the oven with a match). Dinner was just as good today as it was on Saturday.
I am growing concerned about the stuff in the refrigerator and the little chest freezer, but I have heard that if you don't open a freezer, it will stay good for several days (none of us could remember exactly how many days, though). There's a whole lot of cow in the chest freezer I'd hate to have wasted!
Jake stopped over after work to see if there was anything we needed. When he came in, he was surprised that it was so warm, so I showed him the heater. He stayed long enough to make sure everybody was okay, and then left for home. I forgot to show him the neighbor's fallen Tiki Hut and forgot to return his containers from Christmas dinner.
After dinner, we played Scrabble by lantern light. We went to bed just after 9:00 PM. This time I didn't use the lantern, preferring to save the batteries, and just went to sleep.
