Friday's weather was a repeat of Thursday's: nice to look at, but rather cold to be out in. However, it did officially become spring at 7:40 AM today!
I had stupidly worn my light jacket. So, when I went home at lunch, I was ready for something warm. So, I made the ultimate in quick comfort food: a grilled cheese sandwich and a cup of Campbell's tomato soup.
I told myself that when I got home after work, I should go out and pick up the junk I raked out of the front gardens and rake the ditch out, too. But, once I was home and in my nice warm house, I did what I like to call a "Melissa." I decided it was much more important to call my friend and see how he's doing. So, I did.
I ate my afternoon apple rather late (at 4:00 PM) because I had an offsite meeting. So, I didn't really feel hungry for dinner until later, as well. When I did, I just made two cheese burgers and another helping of the toaster oven-baked fries.
I watched TV until I got sleepy and then went to bed.

ReplyDeleteWell, here's the story. A while back, Jake called to tell me that Kroger's had their store-brand of 2 pounds frozen shoe string potatoes on sale at some ridiculously low price. So, i picked up two bags. I am still working on the first bag, BTW.
ReplyDeleteNow, I had been deep frying them, but there's all the mess, the old oil, etc. I noticed there were also instructions for cooking them in the oven. So, I have been cooking a serving of them in my toaster oven on 450 degrees. You let them go for 8 minutes on one side, flip them over and go another 4-7 minutes.
Now, I'd like to pretend that I do it because its healthier than cooking them in oil, but both you and I know I don't give a rat's ass about healthy, I care about taste.
But, since the taste is just marginally less than the deep fried ones, but the cleanup is so much easier, I've adopted this method.
Note: You can also prepare them in an electric skillet on 350 degrees F. and just use one tablespoon of oil, but I don't own one.
