The cold front that brought the storms on Thursday brought a nice North wind on Friday morning along with lower humidity. But, it was still no relief from the heat (high of 88 degrees F.)
At lunch I went to a favorite deli and bought two pounds of fresh, cooked shrimp (I got an idea) and then went home to eat the last of the chicken Alfredo pasta.
At 5:00 PM, after work, the wind had died, but the heat remained. So, I changed into my shorts and T-shirt, went through the mail and then headed out to cut the back lawn.
I checked the oil and filled up the gas tank, got the remote control for the garage door and stuck it in the cup holder, opened the back gate, opened the door downstairs and fired the mower up.
I finished cutting the grass at 7:45 PM. While I was out back, I also watered the upside-down tomato planter and check my raised bed garden. Another hot pepper plant was missing and the other Jalapeo plant was knocked over. That does it! I am buying an air gun. Some critter will pay for this!
Back inside, I was relaxing and then my friend, B___ called. He wanted to see how I'd weathered the storm. I told him there was not much excitement here and asked about his place. He said there was a lot of debris blown down (twigs, etc.,) but nothing real bad. I told him I'd escaped even that and then we hung up.
I heated up the remaining smoked sausage and grilled sweet corn. I went in to watch the Friday night fights, but they weren't on yet. So, I watched taped cooking shows until they came on, then watched them until I got sleepy and went to bed.
