Monday was hot and humid (high was 84 degrees F.) I decided to grille outside, so the air conditioner wouldn't have to work any harder than it already was. So, I stopped at Westborn and got some corn at lunch.
Once home after work and clothes changed, I grabbed some scissors and my Velcro tape and went out to secure my tomatoes to the first row of my trellis in the raised bed garden. Somebody or something broke off on of the Jalapeo peppers right at the base of the plant!
Back inside, I called a friend to see how he was doing. I also found a Sunday voicemail from Acenter (Carla's mom) wishing me a happy father's day. Then I dragged out the grille and lit some newspaper under the filled charcoal chimney.
When the charcoal was ready, I spread out the coals, wire-brushed the grates, oiled them and put on the corn. When that was done, I moved it to the cooler end of the grates. Then I started grilling some natural casing franks and a rope of smoked sausage I'd cut into three-inch lengths.
When everything was done, I pulled it all off and went inside. I ate some smoked sausage with Dijon mustard and two ears of corn.
I watched TV but went to bed early.
