Rainy days and Monday's...

It was windy and chilly when I left for work on Monday. By mid-morning, the rain was coming down hard.

By the time five o'clock rolled around, the rain finally switched to occasional thunderstorms.

I changed clothes and tried to return a Sunday voicemail from Lu. Then I went outside to get some work done. My goal tonight is to weed the front garden. I thought it might be easier after the heavy rain (I had 1/2 inch of rain showing in the gauge).

That worked on the individual weeds, but this year there was a lot of grass in the garden as well. The sod had to be dug out! This is about three weeks later than normal for me to start working on this garden, BTW.

It took a while, but I finally got it all cleaned out. I added some 12-12-12 fertilizer and worked that into the soil. Then I topped the garden with Preen (a product that helps prevent seeds from germinating). Then I planted the two habaneras pepper plants that wouldn't fit in the raised bed garden.

Since I had the fertilizer out, I went back and added some to the raised bed garden. I sprinkled it lightly between the rows and then worked it into the soil.

I went back inside around 7:00 PM, just in time to take Lu's return call. We chatted for a bit and caught each other up on the news.

After that, I heated up some leftovers for dinner (its garbage day tomorrow, so tonight it's use it or lose it. I watched TV until bedtime.
