Thursday

You are probably tired of me saying this, (I know I am), but Thursday was a repeat of Tuesday and Wednesday: cold and threatening rain.

I did call my doctor first thing in the morning and she confirmed my worst fear. She said the MRI showed a tear in my rotator cuff. I said, "Damn! I was hoping you would say it was just arthritis." She said, "I'm sorry, but this is not just a small rip. You have a complete circle tear of your rotator cuff." At least, that's what I think she said. I asked her to repeat that and she said it again, but with her heavy Austrian accent, I just couldn't be sure of what she said.

She also said, "You must be in extreme pain." I said, "No, it comes and goes. I can deal with that, but it's the weakness in my arm and the shakiness I have a problem with (writing and eating or drinking are especially frustrating)."

So, she said they would make an appointment for me with my orthopedic surgeon and call me back with the date and time. I waited all day, but by 5:00 PM when I left work, they had never called back.

When I got home, I checked my voicemail and found that they had called the house. So, unless I change it, I have to see Dr. Hanlon next Tuesday at 2:00 PM. The only problem is they want me to go back to the MRI place and get the film of my MRI and take it with me. I'll call tomorrow and see what that entails.

I got out the electric line trimmer and the 100-foot extension cord and started trimming the back. When I finished with that (I got as far back as the raised bed garden), I blew off all the crud from both patios.

Next, I gassed up the garden tractor and cut the back lawn. I found an Elmo helium balloon, caught on one of my rose bushes. I took it inside for the cats to play with. I finished up just before 8:00 PM.

Back inside, I had just started thinking about dinner when the phone rang. It was my daughter Melissa. So, we started talking, and talking and talking... By the time we hung up, dinner was no longer an option and I just went to bed.
