I went to bed early Thursday night (if you remember) but woke up at 1:30 AM. I tried everything, but eventually ended up sitting on the front porch in the rocker until about 4:00 AM. Naturally this made getting up at 5:30 AM a bit difficult and I ended up being 15 minutes late for work. Ah, well...
At lunch, I went to the bank to get some cash and found the ATM was broken! So, I went to the next closest one and got some money.
I had already decided to treat myself to a nice lunch (starting Monday, with only one hand, I am picturing a lot of canned goods or micro-waved meals). So, I went to Red Lobster (first time in probably 1 1/2 years) and ordered my favorite: Shrimp Alfredo linguine, with the Caesar salad (theirs is the best Caesar salad dressing I have ever had) and three cheddar biscuits. I left there full, happy and $12.00 poorer.
That afternoon, the hospital called and said my surgery would be at 10:30 AM on Monday. It now feels really real... But, whatever happens, it's got to beat the current reality, which is constant, throbbing pain in my right shoulder. I am really sick of that!
Once back home after work, I turned on the back sprinkler (yes, I know it's supposed to rain on Saturday, but I just want to keep the new grass seed moist). I set the timer for 30 minutes.
I returned a call from a friend and we talked for a while. When we finished, I was about to get started on my ToDo list. But my daughter Melissa called.
By the time I hung up, it was too late to really do anything else, so I just warmed up some of the pork and beans and smoked sausage. I ate that watching the Friday night fights. I went to bed before they were finished.
Good luck with the surgery. Speedy recovery.
