I got up at 7:00 AM on Thursday. I went outside and turned on the sprinkler and then set the oven timer. Back inside, I made a cup of instant coffee and posted the Blog.
Once the timer went off, I turned off the water outside and proceeded to get cleaned up. I got a lot to do today. So, once I was shaved and showered, I made up my shopping list and headed out around 9:00 AM.
I stopped at the rehab place and got registered (that took a lot longer than I thought it would, BTW). Unfortunately, the first opening they had for my evaluation was on October 1 at 3:00 PM (the first day I'll be back to work - that should go over big).
Next I hit Gordon Food Service to pick up some supplies for Sunday's party. Then I went to Westborn for some needed vegetables.
Finally, I stopped at Home Depot and got some Thompson's Water Sealer and two brushes (for the trailer bed that has to sit outside this winter) and a hand plane (I have a door that sticks in the house).
I got back home just after noon. I unpacked the car and put away the groceries. I had bought five ears of sweet corn (probably the last time this year) so I put those in the stock pot and filled it with water.
I was beat, so I lay down and watched some TV for a while, careful to not fall asleep. I go back to work next week, so I need to get used to sleeping more at night and less during the day.
I went out to cut the back grass around 3:00 PM. The front yard didn't need it (I haven't watered it at all this year). But, the area where I have been watering the grass seed out back has been growing and is now uneven with the rest of the lawn. I got done about 4:30 PM. It looks nice, BTW. With the lawnmower put away and back inside, I started a load of laundry.
I got out the grille about 6:00 PM and started the charcoal. When it was hot enough, I dumped it in. I cleaned and re-oiled the grates and I put on the corn. I carefully turned the corn (if it's gonna be the last time this year, I wanted it perfect!) When I thought it was ready, I moved it to the cool side of the grille.
Then I put on a package of hot dogs (Dearborn Natural Casing). While they were finishing, I shucked the corn. Then I took everything inside.
I had a hotdog and two ears of buttered, salted corn (both items were simple, but excellent!)
I got a call from my friend, B___, who was checking up on me and we chatted for a while, catching up. Then I went off to watch taped TV until bedtime.
