Pasta party

I woke up late on Wednesday (8:00 AM), so I warmed up a cup of coffee and wrote the Blog entry. It's damn chilly in the house, BTW. I should have shut the windows last night, I guess. It was just 56 degrees F. according to my thermometers, and there is only a high predicted of 70 degrees today. A cold front moved in and fall is in the air.

I was still in my bathrobe at 11:00 AM. I had already watered the new grass seed and cleaned up the kitchen, but not yet taken my shower. I wanted to watch the Dave Mathews Band (on Ellen), so I did.

So, at 11:00 AM, I shaved and showered. I watched a movie about Woody Guthrie called "Bound for Glory" in the afternoon and then took a nap.

I made a simple pasta dish for dinner. I put about a 1/4 cup of olive oil in my skillet and added four cloves of fine-diced garlic. Then I quartered all but two of the tomatoes I've been collecting and threw them in. While that got happy, I cooked a pound of fettuccine until al dente and added that in, too. I tossed it about and plated some, topping it with grated Parmigiano-Reggiano.

My friend B___ called and, when I hung up from him, the phone rang again. It was Lu (first time we've talked since Mom's funeral). We caught each other up and then said our goodbyes.

I watched a little more TV and then called it an early night.
