I spent a restless night (my right arm hurts like hell, and I don't know why) and woke up wide-eyed if not bushy-tailed at 5:30 AM on Saturday. I filled in the Blog from Friday, posted it and turned on the back yard sprinkler.
After 30 minutes I turned it off. Then I shaved and showered, although I'm not going anywhere today.
No, today is all about house maintenance. So, I started out straightening the house up. I emptied the dishwasher and did three full loads of laundry (including the bedding).
I cut down the rose bushes out back and stuck on the Styrofoam cones, topped with a little paving stone, for the coming winter. I also cut off the stem of the grape tomato in the topsy-turvy planter (I'll empty it later).
There was still some limited movement out by the yellow jacket hole, so I sprayed it again. Tomorrow morning, I will cement it shut.
I noticed the sweet peas and the spinach had come up in the raised bed garden. If I get another month or so without a hard freeze, I may get some garden produce! I took a photo or two, but it might not be that encouraging to you... It is for me...
Back inside, I made some roast beef hash for my lunch. I put that on a plate in the microwave to keep warm while I used the saut pan to make a couple of over easy eggs. And, yes, this time I flipped them over with my right hand!
I ate that watching some taped cooking shows and then switched to an old John Wayne Movie (Chisum) I'd taped a day or two ago. Damn I admire that guy!
So, I kept busy (putting the sleeping bag and now empty overnight bag in the attic, folding or hanging up clothes, making my bed with clean sheets, etc.)
At 6:00 PM, there was a special on PBS, regarding Peter, Paul and Mary (Mary died last week, if you didn't know). I was amazed at the depth of my emotions to listening to some of their old songs.
Now, I never was an anti-Vietnam war activist (in fact, I tried to enlist but they laughed at me) because I had too many friends in the service back then. But this program brought back all the angst of the times; it was not only the anti-war movement but the civil rights movement.
I ate leftovers for dinner and watched TV until bedtime.
