A Wet, Miserable Day

Friday dawned (well, it's not yet dawn when I awake for work) chilly, rainy and just plain miserable.

I shaved, showered, dressed and drove to work. I got quite a shock when I pulled into the driveway and made the turn. There were orange barrels everywhere! But, since I was already there and there were two or three cars right behind me, I felt I was committed.

I weaved in and out of barrels until I hit the problem. Somebody had cut out about a foot of the pavement! So, then I was dodging barrels along with one foot tall, car-killer storm drains, etc. I finally got to the parking lot and went into work.

When the other members of the crew showed up (they come in an hour later than me... It's a long story), I asked what was going on. They said they had no idea, people just started tearing up the driveway yesterday afternoon.

Sometime, in the afternoon, our Facilities department sent out an email, saying the landlord was redoing the south drive and they were sorry about the late advisory...

It was raining when I went home at lunch and raining when I went home for the weekend. I had to laugh when one of my fellow PM's said he was praying for an all weekend rain. I said, why? I got a lot of stuff yet to do outside before winter!?!

He said he did too, but this way he could relax and spend the weekend inside, yet not feel guilty...

Sometimes I wish I still had a wife and young kids I could assign chores to!

So, upon arriving home, grabbing the mail and getting inside, I took stock. I treated the cats and then changed clothes.

I started a load of weekend laundry and then emptied the dishwasher. I called my friend B___ to see how he was doing and we chatted for a bit (mostly about the stock market, lol).

I was hungry, but didn't feel much like fussing, so I opened a can of Hormel chili, warmed that up and ate it watching some TV. I was still worn out from yesterday's adventures, so I went to bed early again.

  3. When you came home. You said you got out some stock but I see you ended up having chili. So, what did you do with the stock?

  4. Regarding "Sometimes I wish I still had ...young kids I could assign chores to!" You could assgn them to your young sons - maybe you might just get lucky!
