If you know me at all, you know I am fascinated by snipers. Especially the marine snipers that operated in Vietnam. Why not the Army snipers? Well, its a long and ugly story, my friend. But...
Here's one for you. Did you know that the Soviet Red army snipers did NOT have crosshairs in their scopes. Rather they used a pointed aiming post.
And, at say twelve-hundred and fifty feet with maybe a twelve mile wind, you would have to aim thirteen feet away from your target to actually hit it.
Now, that's freaking shooting. I've done some damn fine shooting in my time (a clay pigeon in the air with my 22-caliber rifle and a running rabbit with the same gun) but nothing like that...
