Thursday

I slept lousy last night (my leg was killing me). I woke up almost every hour and finally got up at 5:00 AM Thursday morning.

I was afraid to make coffee as I'd taken a pain pill in the middle of the night and my stomach was upset.

I cleaned up the kitchen mess (from yesterday's baking). Then I showered and got dressed.

I lay back down and watched the local news and then the Today show, hoping to fall back asleep. That didn't work, so I got back up, determined to finish the Christmas decorations today.

I had gotten everything down over the Thanksgiving weekend and really wanted to go back to using my big tree this year. But, the bottom string of lights weren't working. I tried everything, even taking each bulb out and putting them back. Nothing!

Disgusted, I hauled the damn thing back upstairs (not an easy task) and got down the little one. I changed around some decorations so the coffee table wouldn't look so bare, hooked the tree and the glass block up to a timer and set the timer to go on at 5:30 PM and off at 11:00.

We'll see how it looks tonight when it's dark. Finally, I carried the two big tubs of decorations back upstairs (not easy, either).

Somewhere in the middle of all that Lu called. She was just leaving Florida and entering Georgia. She had spent a week visiting her step-mother for Thanksgiving. We talked awhile, comparing our respective holidays, Thanksgiving dinners, my leg, her soap, etc.

Anyway, I finished with the decorations (I hope!) around 11:30 AM. I was really hungry, but still feared my queasy stomach. So, I settled for the mildest thing I could think of, egg noodles and butter. After I ate, I was in the kitchen cleaning up at the kitchen and looked out the window. I noticed the bird feeder rope was broken and it was lying on the ground (again). I am now wondering if the squirrels chew through it.

So, I put on my heavy coat and went to fetch it. I took it into the house and then the garage, cut off the old knots and rethreaded new rope. I tied the knots and took it out back. I refilled it and hung it back up.

Since I already had my coat on, I went back into the garage and got out the snowplow markers (I've been meaning to put them in before the ground freezes). I got them stuck in the dirt, walked out to the mailbox and got today's mail (nothing special).

Back in the warmth, I hung up my coat and then hung out, watching some TV still trying to catch a nap (I'm really dragging it today). I checked at 5:30 PM and, yes, the Christmas lights did come on. Whew! But, that reminded me, I still need another timer and to hook up the outdoor wreath.

I had breakfast for dinner, still babying my tummy. I made some scrambled eggs and oat-nut toast.

I watched TV until 11:00 PM and then went to sleep (hopefully!)
