I watched the Olympics until late, then went to bed around 1:00 AM on Wednesday. That made getting up at 5:30 AM a bit of a problem. But, I made it on time.
The problem was exacerbated, though during a one hour+ meeting, as the guy across from me kept yawning!
I left at about 11:30 AM (the meeting ran late) and went to Home Depot to buy some rock salt (I'm all out). That was the littlest 50 pound bag I ever saw! Putting it in the cart wasn't a problem, but I damn near killed myself getting it up and out of the cart! I put in on the back seat so I didn't have to pick it up again from out of the trunk (old people do have their problems, but we tend to get trickier).
Back home and after treating the cats, I dealt with the rock salt. I put the 5-gallon pail I keep it in on the garage floor next to the rear seat. I pulled the bag out a bit and opened it with a box cutter, dumping it into the pail. Then I slid the pail back to its place. I used a cup to sprinkle some on the ice that's developed in the drive.
Since I had my coat and boots on anyway, I went out back and refilled the bird feeder. It was at that point I remembered I wanted to look for a metal bird feeder at Home Depot! Damn!
I took a nap during the afternoon.
I swung by Jake's house around 5:30 PM to borrow a movie and, while I was there, he gave me a container filled with chicken stew. The unusual thing about this chicken stew was that he didn't use any onion or garlic in it. He said he wanted just a pure chicken taste (heresy, I say!!!)
When I got back home, I warmed up half of it and cut a big chunk of that Rustic Italian Bread off the loaf. I went in and ate it watching the news.
The stew was excellent, Jake! I didn't even miss the onions or garlic and the bread soaked up the gravy perfectly. Thanks!
At 8:00 PM I started watched the Olympics again and stayed up until they finished (at 11:30 PM) and then watched the news again. These damn Olympics are wrecking my health!!!
