I got up and ready for work on time, for a change. I didn't stay up that late watching the Olympics. The last program was the men's figure skating, so I didn't bother. Don't get me wrong, I admire what they do (the jumps, etc.). It's just the damn silly outfits they wear (shirts cut to the waist, tassels, and feathers). I mean come on; would it be any harder if you just wore a regular shirt and pants? Maybe I'm a tad homophobic, but that shit just makes me feel ogley!
Anyway, it was a bright sunny day here again in Redford (I forgot to mention it was sunny and 34 degrees here yesterday). Well, today it was the sunny but 37 degrees! I could tell by the drips coming from the icicles on the eaves of the house. After all the gray days we've had, the sun is quite unexpected and quite welcome!
When I got home after work, I treated the cats, changed clothes and began to pay bills online (today was payday). When I was done with that, I switched to cleaning mode and thoroughly washed the stove (it needed it after this week). So the drip pans, grates and peripherals were drying in the sink by 6:30 PM.
I went and watched the news at that point. When they were over, I made a conscious decision to NOT watch the Olympics tonight. My DVD recorder is fast filling up. So, first I watched another of the Agatha Christe "Poirot" movies. This one was called "Appointment with Death" and was excellent (as always).
Not for the first time did I wish I'd lived back in those days...
I reassembled the stove. After that, I watched four 1/2-hour cooking shows (fast forwarding through commercials) and then went to bed. I'll check the Olympic results in the morning...
I love watching the figure skating!! But, it must be universal because the man in my house feels the same way as you about it. I had to compromise - I got to watch the figure skating in return for having to endure the Friday night fights. the sacrifices we make...
ReplyDeleteLMAO! I'm with Doug! Those boys look a little too light in the loafers! Give me boxers any day!
ReplyDeleteLet's see now - gliding gracefully across the ice with that tight butt VS getting punched in the face dripping blood... Seriously, if you had XX chromosomes, which would you choose?? :)
ReplyDeleteIt's exactly those little tight butts that turn us XYer's off! Give me whoop-ass every time!
ReplyDelete(but, I see your point, LOL)
Um, you never said what you had for dinner...
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm sorry. Despite what most people think, this isn't really a "foodie" blog. So, if I'm not making a great recipe, I tend to overlook that. In last night's case, I really wanted some Dinty Moore beef stew. But, I found I was out of it! (Bummer) So, I heated up a can of roast beef hash. I seasoned it with just salt and pepper and ate that, instead.
ReplyDeleteI also had a hard-boiled egg, topping each bite with a little horseradish (it's a Polish thing I learned) later in the night for a snack.
BTW, what I have really been fantasizing about recently is those damn dumpling I used to make on top the CaptainK beef stew (see recipes). Light, fluffy and a to-die-for flavor. I gotta make those sometime soon...
Point taken, lol! Although, I fear I will never understand you XY-ers... :)
ReplyDelete@ CC: It's simple, really... Us XYers really like firm, tight butts. So, when we are watching the men's figure skating and see them, our initial reaction is, "Damn, hubba hubba!" Then we realize they are attached to a guy and we get grossed out.
ReplyDeleteIt's better to watch two guys beat the crap out of each other than go through that agonizing self-analysis.
It's self defense, actually...
Oh, I see...as I said - I may never understand the XY, lol. There really is a flip side/minor flaw to your theory unfortunately, in the interest of this being a "G" rated blog, I'd better keep my next comment to myself! ;)
ReplyDeleteLMAO! Yes, my granddaughter reads this! Thank you... Email me the flaw.
ReplyDeleteToday's blog post is brought to your by the letters 'x' and 'y'.
ReplyDeleteLMAO!!
ReplyDeleteJohn, there was only one "damn silly outfits they wear (shirts cut to the waist, tassels, and feathers)" worn by Johnny Weir, and he has said he is retiring...the rest were pretty conventional....you missed one hell of a skate off...
