Monday, Monday...

I was having a pretty good day (for a Monday). When I went home at lunch, I made an egg salad sandwich, on sourdough bread with lettuce and lots of salt. Delicious! And, my afternoon apple (a variety I'd never had before called Honey Crisp) was excellent.

When I got home after 5:00 PM, I loaded up the dishwasher. I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but I had made some buttered popcorn over the weekend. It kind of trashed my pan, so I reached way under the sink cupboard and tried to bring out the box of Brillo pads. Hmmm... they seemed to be stuck, so I pulled harder...

The box came out, but it was all wet and empty! Ah, crap! I hate plumbing problems!!! I managed to salvage three Brillo pads and put them on the dish rack to dry out.

I pulled everything out from under the sink and wiped it down with many, many paper towels. The worst was the extra box of dishwasher soap (as you know, I like to keep two of all my staples - that way I never run out. I just switch to the second box and add the item to the grocery list.) Well, the second, full box of dishwasher soap was soaked and bloated as a dead whale. Crap! I just blew three bucks.

When I had the mess cleaned up (I hope nothing rots) I put down a layer of even more paper towels to try and find where the leak is coming from (the drains or the pipes?)

I was gonna make the catfish and wild rice, but I'm tired and really pissed now. So, I went out to the chest freezer and got the last Tombstone pepperoni pizza.

Since the Brillo pads were drying out, I added some baking soda to the scorched pot and filled it with hot water (Jyl swears by this, but I've never had much luck with it.) I'll scrub it out tomorrow.

I read a magazine that came in the mail today on the couch, trying to relax. At about 8:00 PM, I put the pizza in the oven. My only bright spot tonight is that a Poirot movie called "The Third Girl" taped sometime over the weekend, so I have something good to watch on TV.

BTW, to make things even more interesting, we will be getting snow tomorrow morning and, by the time it's over Wednesday afternoon, we are supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow with high winds and drifting. God, I love my life...

But, the movie was excellent, and a new "No Reservations" with Anthony Bourdain came on just after it, so despite all upcoming problems, my night ended on a good note.
