Garbage Day, Again...

When I took the garbage out at 7:00 AM, it was overcast, windy and cold. I decided not to make the same mistake I did yesterday and wore my leather jacket into work.

It was a little warmer at lunchtime, but still cloudy. Imagine my surprise when a co-worker told me at 3:00 PM there wasn't a cloud in the sky!

So, getting home after work, I thought I should at least start raking the side lawn. Tomorrow is supposed to be less windy, sunny and a possible high of 60 degrees F., so I imagine I'll get the bulk of it done then. But, every little bit helps, I guess.

But, as Fate (or Luck) would have it, my daughter Melissa called, just before I walked outside. Not wanting to be a bad Dad, I thought it was more important to sit on the couch and chat than to go outside and work. The things I do for my kids...

The big news from North Carolina: They already have had to cut their grass down there!

Anyway, it was too late to go outside by the time we hung up, so I gave up that idea for today.

I ate more of the pasta for lunch, so I decided a light dinner might be in order. So, I cut the winter melon in half. I covered the cut side of one half with cling wrap and stuck it back in the fridge. I seeded the other half, cut it into wedges, cut off the rind and cut that into chunks. I put them on a plate and hit them with sea salt.

Then I opened up my package of prosciutto (four ounces of paper-thin slices). I sat on the couch with the magazine that came in today's mail and ate and read. I'd peel off a slice of the prosciutto and eat it, followed by a few chunks of melon. Delicious!

I have heard you can also eat prosciutto with figs the same way. I think I'll try that next...

I watched a little uninspiring TV and then went to bed early.
