I awoke with the alarm clock on Monday morning. It was warm here and sunny. Really sunny! I went to work squinting and put in my time until lunch. Then I swung by Kroger's to buy some "Alphabet Soup" (never let it be said I welsh on my bets!)
But, here's a weird thing: When I had alphabet soup as a kid (it was rare to have canned soup back then as my Mom was always making homemade soup out of leftovers) it was a beef broth-based soup. Now the only kind they sell is chicken alphabet soup (believe me, I looked for like 10 minutes). Weird!
Weird, and worrisome from a photographer's point of view. Now the letters won't stand out as much!
I ate the last of the pork Chop Suey for lunch.
Anyway, back home after work, I treated the cats, changed clothes and then went back outside (before the sun set). I took the two full garbage bags out to the road (the half-filled one will await tomorrow morning's offerings) and then went and got my hoe. I trenched the standing water in the driveway (it's been just above freezing all day) to the ditch. Then I filled up the tires on the car and checked the oil. Preventive maintenance, man!
Oh, I forgot to mention, just before 9:00 PM Sunday night, my brother Jim called. We chatted for a few minutes and then hung up. Nice to hear a familiar family voice, for a change... Thanks, Bro!
Back inside, I emptied the dishwasher I'd turned on Sunday night. Then I got started on tonight's project: the alphabet soup!
So, I started out by heating up a can of the chicken alphabet soup (so I didn't have the little fat globs floating about). I used less of the water called for, so I could set the letters on top. I pulled out a little broth and searched for and found the letters I needed. But, as I feared, it was hard to read them when on top of the actual soup. So, I decided to take another photo with the letters on the plate beneath the bowl. Hopefully, I have fulfilled all my obligations.
After posting the pictures, I ate the soup!
Other than Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" (and it's always set to tape), Monday night is a TV void, so I decided to watch Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill 1." I love Uma Thurman!!
When it was done so was I, so I went to bed...
Your soup dinner looked awesome!! Yes, you more than filled your obligation - you're such a good sport! :)
