The only living crocus on San Jose

I was pretty sure after last Spring the damn squirrels had eaten all the crocus bulbs. So, I was amazed yesterday when I checked the front yard.

Now, the lilac had buds all over it, the daffodils and hyacinth are coming up and the only disappointment is the forsythia I planted two years ago.

The two forsythia out back are like wild weeds. I cut them back each fall and they grow like crazy all summer.

But, in spite of me pampering it, the little guy out front just barely hangs on. I have watered it, fertilized it, mulched it and so on. but its still just a little stick. WTF?

Anyway, during my inspection, I was amazed to see two crocus up and blooming! They sure weren't there last year! So, I took a picture for you.
