I woke up on Monday morning with a seriously sore neck. I had decided on Sunday to replace my damn-near flat pillows with two fresh ones from the daybed in the office. But, sleeping at that new angle put a severe crick (crink?) in my neck...
At lunch, I went to Kroger's and did my grocery shopping. I spent just over $90.00 and got everything on my list, except for laundry detergent. It wasn't on sale and I still have another full container, so I guess I'll wait a bit. By the time I got through the line, made it home and put everything away, it was damn near time to go back. I did choke down a sandwich for my lunch, though.
After work, I did do a quick tour of the front yard and found some blooming daffodils. So, I took some photos of those and of a hyacinth that's about to pop. I posted them for you.
I tried calling my daughter Melissa, but just got her recorder. When we were talking yesterday, she forgot to mention anything regarding severe weather. But, when I watched the Today show this morning, like eight tornadoes touched down near Charlotte last night (near where she lives). From the pictures, it looked like hell broke loose in North Carolina! I hope everyone is okay...
We do have occasional tornadoes here in Michigan. Not as many as say Kansas or Oklahoma, but when we do get them, they're killer. In fact, they said the deadliest tornado in the US was here (I forget the year) and over 100 people were killed. I will always remember the one that hit New Baltimore (where I went to school and where a lot of my people now live), when I was a lad. A classmate of mine's brother got hit in the head and suffered a severe closed head injury. Unlike Amy, he never really recovered.
Okay, so now I'm freakin' myself out. I am just gonna assume that Dave and Melissa, and Dustin, Linnea and Gavin are all okay.
I switched out the old kitty litter for the new bag I bought today and have it staged for the garbage people tomorrow.
Now, onto dinner. I'm not really hungry, but know I should eat something. I got out the two remaining pork shops to come to room temp and then boiled a handful of quartered red potatoes. I warmed up one of the pork chops in the microwave (the other went back in the fridge). When the potatoes were fork tender, I mashed them using a little buttermilk, some butter and some fresh snipped chives from my garden.
I ate that watching some TV. I checked my email again about 10:00 PM and found one from Melissa, who had to work late. She said the tornadoes were not near them, although they did have bad storms, but everyone's okay. On that note, I thought I would go to bed, so I did.
Glad everyone is alright. Sorry about everyone's weather it's going to be sunny and near 70 today and over 70 tommorow. I will be laying out reading in the sun after I do my errands That reminds me I need to get more sunscreen. Have a good one! Did you try putting 2 pillows in 1 pillowcase? It works for me.
