I woke up just after 8:00 AM on Saturday, with the sun streaming in the windows. I turned on Saturday Morning, Over Easy, put the bedding in the washer and started a pot of coffee.
I had a "TaDa" breakfast planned, but the trouble was I wasn't all that hungry. So, I ate the last grapefruit, instead.
I watched a few Saturday cooking shows and then fell asleep again. I took about a two hour nap, woke up and felt much better. I ate two more French Dip sandwiches for lunch.
I went outside, filled up the push mower with gas, checked the oil and cut the front lawn. About half-way through, my neighbor's (Rick and Tammy) came out and planted a new tree (a weeping cherry?) I turned off the mower and we chatted for a long while.
They said the outdoor section checkouts are now open at Home Depot (they weren't when I bought the flower seeds and I ended up walking like a mile or so to pay for them). So, I've been waiting to buy that arbor vitiae. Maybe Sunday or Monday...
I finished up around 5:00 PM, put the mower away and shut everything up. I was thinking about dinner and finally settled on what Luanne used to call "goulash" (it was her step-mother's recipe). Now I knew even back then it wasn't really goulash but the only thing I could remember was you added V-8 Juice to the mix.
So, I called Lu and just got her recorder. Then I tried calling her step-mom, Gerry, down in Florida and got her recorder, too! I gave up and made it up myself.
I browned up a pound of hamburger. I added a couple of small, yellow onion (fine diced) and four cloves of minced garlic. Meanwhile, I cooked 1/2 pound of elbow macaroni. When that was done and drained, I added it to the hamburger/onion mix and dumped in enough V-8 Juice to make it wet. (I was gonna use that with Carla's pepper vodka, but I forgot to take it home).
I let that get happy for a while, then put a big helping in a soup bowl. I ate that watching some TV. I kept checking the TV listing for something interesting and, apparently, found something on the SciFi channel (I think it had to do with mutated piranhas). But I fell asleep during the show.
I woke up around 4:00 AM. The SciFi channel was still on and they were playing old reruns of the "Twilight Zone." I watched two of them (black and white and weird), then I turned the TV and Newt's light off and went to bed.
