Yard Work

Thursday's forecast was for sunny skies and 60 degrees F. The inside of the car was very hot when I went home at lunchtime, so when I went back to work, I opened the windows a tad to let the heat out.

So, you can imagine my surprise when a co-worker came in from outside around 4:00 PM and said it was cloudy and raining! Crap!! I wanted to cut the lawn tonight.

But, it was sunny again when I drove home through the puddles. I had to swing by my closest market for an item for tonight's dinner, so I didn't get home until 5:30 PM. I checked the rain gauge and there was barely a trace of moisture, so I decided if and when the patio cement dried, it would be safe to cut the lawn.

At 6:30 PM, the patio was dry, so I gassed up the mower, checked the oil and then fired it up. The grass was thicker than the last time I cut it, so I turned the speed down a notch so it wouldn't look ragged.

I finished up and had everything put away by 8:30 PM. It was now too late to make the dinner I'd planned, so I heated up a can of hash, topped it with two over-easy eggs and ate that instead.

I watched a little TV and then went to bed at 10:00 PM.
