Damp Wednesday

I went in to work on Wednesday for my four hours. When I left at 11:00 AM, I headed for Lowe's.

I made one stop at the Newburgh Grill. Sadly, it's been so long I forgot the day you want to go there is Tuesday (great bean soup). Today, it was chicken and dumpling or lemon chicken rice soups. Even though I knew better, I ordered the chicken and dumpling soup and a mini Greek salad.

As Jake would attest, the soup is like eating fairly good chicken soup with lead-like flour lumps of dough (if I made dumplings like that, I'd kill myself). I left most of them in the bowl and couldn't finish the little salad.

Then it was on to Lowe's. I found the belt I needed easily enough and, $25.00 US later, headed back for home.

When I got there, I remembered (belatedly) my work clothes were in the hamper. So, I changed into my robe, started the Wednesday wash and watched some TV while the clothes went through the cycles of wash, rinse and dry.

When they finally finished, I hung up my at-work work clothes and put on my outside at-home work clothes. Then I went out in the garage to put on the belt.

Oh, the Owner's Guide made it sound sooo easy. But it took several different sockets, ratchets and wrenches and almost 2 1/2 hours to get the damn thing on!

The forecast was for afternoon thunderstorms, but it was still sunny when I finished. So, I fired that bad boy up and cut the side lawn. Then I opened the rear gate and started on the back lawn.

About halfway through cutting, it started to sprinkle. Since it wasn't really raining, I soldiered on. It never really rained, so I finished the grass, but half of the lawn has clumps of wet grass clippings.

Back inside, I buttoned everything up and checked the caller id. My friend B___ had called, so I called him back. He said they did get thunderstorms (and hail) up where he lives, so I guess I was lucky.

For my dinner, I added a little cream to the Fettucini Alfredo leftovers and warmed it up in the microwave. I topped it with a bit of fresh Parmigiano-Reggiano and ate it watching the news.

I watched old movies until I was sleepy and then went to bed.
