Friday Fun

(Sorry about the late post. My electricity was out for several hour this morning, though I don't know why).

I woke up on Friday to the alarm clock's annoying noise. I shaved, showered and then made another cup of Rick's coffee. I watched the news and drank it until it was time to go.

It was windy and mild today, for a change. The patio did look like it rained sometime overnight, but the rain gauge has only a trace of water in it.

At lunch, I stopped into Meijer's and picked up the remaining items I would have gotten on the last trip, if not for the lack-of-time problem. This is mostly to restock the pantry, you see.

I got home an hour early at 4:00 PM (don't ask) and changed clothes. Then I sat on the couch with a drink and relaxed until 5:00 PM. Since it was so nice (and so windy), I turned off the furnace and opened almost all of the windows. I haven't really done a "Spring Cleaning" but I figured I could at least air the sucker out.

Then I went out front with the 100-foot extension cord and the line trimmer. The grass is terribly long with all the recent rain and I have to get it back into shape.

Oh, BTW, the Township came by and blacktopped the first two feet into my now-low driveway. That's real nice, (four feet would have been perfect) but in the process, they managed to turn my mailbox about halfway around. So, I ignored the black tar on the sides of it and got it squared away.

Then, I trimmed the front lawn.

I put the line trimmer away, rolled up the extension cord and then fired up the riding lawn mower. I cut the front lawn, but then when traveling to the side lawn, the deck hit one of the 4 x 4's that line the driveway. So, when I started cutting the side lawn, I was, like, scalping the lawn on one side and leaving three inches tall grass on the other.

So, I shut the blade off and drove it back into the garage. Then I started looking for the Owner's Manual (to level the deck). I searched in vain through both file boxes (twice). About that time, my friend B___ called. I told him of my plight and he reminded me I just had it out to replace the belt. He suggested I might have left it in the garage. After we hung up, I scoured the garage to no avail.

So, I gave up for the night. I warmed up a can of Hormel chili and ate some of that for dinner. I watched a taped TV show and then went to bed.

  3. @ Jake: Thanks, but I found it on the kitchen table.

@ Rick: The coffee is really addicting. Are you sure this is not some Oriental plot to take over the world?
