Rain-soaked Saturday

I was awakened at 6:50 AM on Saturday morning by a loud boom of thunder and flashes of lightning. I looked outside, but it wasn't raining yet. Sadly, it didn't dawn on my sleep-befuddled brain to go out and get the grille back in the garage. I only thought of that later...

By 7:00 AM, the heavens had opened up and the rain, abetted by strong winds, was coming down in sheets. The rain was hitting the windows so hard it sounded like hail! The whole storm was over by 7:30, though. The wind was calm, the rain had stopped and the only rumbles and grumbles of thunder were far off in the distance.

I cut open a grapefruit and ate both halves for breakfast.

Rain was predicted up until noon, so I was not fooled. I was curious, however, so I went outside in my bathrobe to check the rain gauge. In that brief event, I picked up 1/2 inch of rain! I also went out front and dragged in the grille, also in my bathrobe. To eliminate potential embarrassment, I pretended I was a king in his robes. For the next hour or so, I addressed Scruffy and Caley as "knave" and "wench" (hey you live alone, you get weird, okay?)

Anyway, the rain will be beneficial to my vegetable and flower seeds.

I put on a pot of coffee and started the weekend wash. I noticed it had started sprinkling again, but nothing hard (yet).

Because of the amount of rain, I spent the day inside, cleaning up the house, putzing around and so on.

I watched a 1946 movie (My Darling Clementine) starring Henry Fonda as Wyatt Earp and then I took a nap.

In spite of my plans for a great meal, I just ate leftovers for my supper.

I went to bed at 10:00 PM and that was Saturday...
