And Coming ...

I called the cable company the first thing Thursday morning. She said the service call schedule didn't come out until after 8:30 AM and she would call me back with the time. When she hadn't called back by 9:30, I called back there. This time I talked with James and he said a technician would be at the house between 11:00 AM and 1:00.

I raced home at 10:50 and the guy was already there. Alright!! He was there about a half an hour, came out and said he's rebooted the modem and it was working perfectly. I asked about the signal and he said it was great. Whew! Problem solved.

I spent the last of my lunch hour watching TV (actual TV) and then went back to work.

When I got home from work, I went to see about the gazillion email messages I probably had, but I got the message "Unable to connect to the server." Uh, oh. I checked. No TV, phone or Internet! Damn!

I tried to call Jake to have him help me through the reboot, but a little message came on the emergency cell phone, saying my minutes were about to expire. So, I had to stop what I was doing, go get a credit card and buy some more (there is no point in buying more than you need as they always expire after 90 days).

I finally got Jake and he talked me through the reboot. After a few minutes, I was back in action. I called B___ to try and explain all these weird, cut-off calls. I was talking to him about five minutes when I got the feeling he wasn't there. Sure enough, it had gone out again!!!

Damn! And, I had the guy right here. I should have asked for a new modem. Disgusted, I will now have to start the whole process all over again Friday morning.

I was too annoyed to make the dinner I'd planned, so I just heated up the leftover wild rice and ate that, instead.

I popped in the DVD for Master and Commander and watched that until I fell asleep.
